Pre-K
West Perry School District operates prekindergarten classrooms in each of the elementary schools. Classes of approximately seventeen students are led by a teacher and paraprofessional. Students attend for 5 hours per day for 180 days each year. Our curriculum is designed to meet the needs, interests, and developmental readiness of all children. Lessons are designed around themes in a caring, nurturing, and fun environment.
The West Perry Pre-K program is funded by the Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts Grant. The grant contains two primary eligibility requirements a child must meet in order to participate in the program:
- Age eligibility: Students must be age 3 or 4 BEFORE September 1st.
- Income eligibility: Families whose income is at or below 300% of the federal poverty level
Students are selected from applications during the spring enrollment process. Priority is given to students based on family income and other risk factors. Transportation is provided.
