WPSD Seeks Community Engagement

WPSD Seeks Community Engagement
Engagement Wheel

The West Perry School District is encouraging parents, guardians, and interested community members to join the district in an ongoing dialogue about activities and topics of interest and importance to the District and community.

The WPSD recently welcomed David Zula as new superintendent.  Mr. Zula is interested in meeting members of the community and hearing from parents.  WPAL provides the means to garner feedback and share ideas.  “Education is a partnership,” said Zula.  “We need educators, administrators, parents, and community members around the table talking regularly about issues critical to our children’s education.”

The West Perry Advisory Liaisons (WPAL), a group formed in the Spring of 2018, has met monthly to share ideas, learn about state and federal education requirements, safety issues, facilities upgrades, and more.  “The WPAL has dwindled in attendance and we are interested in expanding the group,” shared Dr. Nancy Snyder, Assistant Superintendent for West Perry School District.   “The feedback from the regular attendees has been helpful to the District.  We want to build on their enthusiasm.”

WPAL’s next meeting is scheduled for May 16, 2019 at 6:30 PM in the Middle School Library.  The presentation topic for the meeting will be Title IV funding for Career Readiness education.  Title IV is part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA.)  The presentation will be followed by a roundtable discussion.  An update on the High School renovation plan will also be shared.
