Middle School Girls' Basketball

There are two teams at the middle school.  The middle school varsity team will be coached by Coach Stauffer and the middle school junior varsity team will be coached by Coach Henry.


Open gym schedule:

Open gyms are not mandatory practices.  However, it will give the girls a chance to practice the skills they will be evaluated on during try-outs.  Open gyms will be held at the middle school gym.  Please dress appropriately.

November 1, 3, 8, 15 and 17 from 2:45 – 5:15


Try-Out Schedule:

Friday, November 19 from 5:30 – 7:30

Saturday, November 20 from 11:00 – 1:00

 

If needed, we will extend try-outs…

Monday, November 22 from 2:45 – 5:15

Tuesday, November 23 from 2:45 – 5:20

 

Players will be evaluated during these practices.  At the end practice on November 20, players will be given a letter that will let them know if they have made the team.  Those players that made the team will be expected to be at practice on November 22 at 2:45

 

Practice and Game Schedule:

Players that make the team will be required to be at practice.  All practices are mandatory unless excused by the coach prior to practice.  Practices will be held after school from 2:45 to 5:20 or from 5:30 to 7:30. Parents will need to provide transportation for players for the evening practices.  If you make the team, please make sure you can keep your commitment to the coaches and your teammates.

 

Required Paperwork for Try-Outs:

Students must have completed the physical packet and have it on file prior to attending any mandatory practices.  Physicals are not required to participate in open gyms prior to the season.

 

To complete the required paperwork, we will be using an on-line format called Planet HS.

If you did not participate in a sport 
at West Perry, you must complete the entire “2020-2021” Athletic Participation Booklet.

You will need the physical completed by the Doctor on section 7 in the physical packet.  You will upload section 7 in PlanetHS. The other paperwork isn’t necessary because you will complete it in PlanetHS.

Physical night at the High School is on Tuesday, November 2nd at 6 PM. Anyone planning on attending will need to register before with Amanda Davis (adavis@westperry.orgor Karen Magee (kmagee@westperry.org), our high school and middle school nurses. The cost is $35. They will need to bring section 6 of the CIPPE form to be filled out.  As always, athletes are welcome to get physicals elsewhere and give them to the coaching staff at open gym.  All physicals must be completed and signed by the doctor on or after June 1, 2021.

If you participated in a sport at West Perry during the 2021 fall season and you were not injured, you only need to complete the Parent Recertification, section 8 in the booklet.   This section is completed on-line using PlanetHS.

 

If you participated in a sport at West Perry during the 2021 fall season and you were injured, you must complete the Recertification by Licensed Physician, section 9 in the booklet, and upload to PlanetHS.
