An inexpensive deck of 3 x 5 index cards can be used for a variety of fun practice games that the whole family can enjoy.
Have your child write a number on both sides of a card. Make several each night for one week. Depending on your child's ability the numbers can be two digits, three digits, or even larger. Underline one digit and let your child tell you the place value.
You can then use the pack to play EVEN/ODD by simply showing a card. To change the skill just show two cards and the game becomes >. To play BEFORE/BETWEEN/AFTER use one card again and your child must say the number that would come before, between , and after when counting. Another game is ROUNDING to the nearest ten. You can challenge your child to round to the nearest hundred. One final practice is to use one card and have your child start with that number to pattern count by 2s.5s,10s,or 100s.
