A Students Guide to College Admissions- The book is about getting started. Reviews how to pick the right college, general admission requirements, the application process, and how to receive financing for your college education. Barron’s Guide to the Most Competitive Colleges- Lists 74 of the most competitive colleges. Includes a detailed description of the school, including; location, size, admission requirements, curriculum, faculty, entertainment, student life activities, resident life, financial aid, fun facts, and prominent graduates each. Barron’s Profile of American Colleges- In depth descriptions of more than 1650 schools. Information regarding admission requirements, tests scores, application deadlines, academic programs, students-faculty ratios, tuitions and fees, and athletic and recreational facilities. Also includes ratings of colleges from least competitive to most competitive. The Book of Majors (2009)- Lists of hundreds of majors; what they are all about, whether it is for you, recommended high school preparation, typical courses in the major, concentrations, what they study of the major is like, questions to ask colleges about the major, and career options. Career Information Center (3 books): Health, Marketing and Distribution Environment, and Agribusiness and Natural Resources- Books are by subject. Also contains information on federal programs, state-sponsored programs, and programs offered by labor unions. Chronicle Two Year College Databook (2003/04, 2005/06, 2008/09, 2009/10)- The two year college majors and career section lists over 2,000 institutions offering over 760 occupational, associate degree, and transfer programs. The 2 year college charts section lists characteristics about the institutions. Choosing A College- A step by step guide to choosing a college. Includes many activities that would help one find a college that fits who they are, what they like to do and what they want to do while in college. College Cost and Financial Aid Handbook (2001)- Detailed description of 3,100 colleges including itemized chart of students expenses, needs based and scholarship programs, freshman financial aid profile and when and how to apply for aid. Fiske Guide to Colleges (2005 & 2006)- Includes write ups on the country’s “best and most interesting” colleges and universities, and schools that are considered “best buys”.
